BN has shown it cares, Najib tells Sarawak voters
SIBU, Sept 15 — Datuk Seri Najib Razak said tonight the federal government understands the need to appreciate Sarawak’s aspiration, interests and sensitivities by working together as “one Malaysia and one family”.
The prime minister said he was pleased with the support received from Sarawak Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud and the state government within the framework of the constitution.
“We understand each other and we understand that we need to appreciate Sarawak’s aspiration, interests and sensitivities, and at [the] same time, the Sarawak people understand that by being part of a bigger family and by being part of Malaysia, you stand to gain much more than ever before,” he said when attending a dinner with leaders of the Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties, tuai rumah and Sibu, Lanang and Sarikei community leaders here.
“This is what we want as a nation. Let us work together as one Malaysia and one family,” he said, adding that the Barisan Nasional government had proven to the people of Sarawak that it cared for them.
He said the 342 additional federal projects worth RM2.32 billion that had been approved for Sarawak since he took over the premiership was indicative of the sincerity that it had, which was also very important in judging the politicians, such as by their deeds and action. — Bernama
