Cops bust drug-making ring, seize RM43m in material
KUALA LUMPUR, May 14 — Police have busted a major Eramin 5 drug processing syndicate with the arrest of 25 suspects, including Taiwanese and Nepalese nationals, after carrying out 15 raids in Penang, Kuala Lumpur and Klang on Saturday.
Bukit Aman Narcotics Department Director Datuk Noor Rashid Ibrahim said police also seized 282.62 kg of powdered drugs believed to be used for processing Eramin 5 pills and 88,000 Eramin 5 pills from a drug processing lab in Klang, worth RM43 million.
Noor Rashid said 12 luxury cars, including Mercedes-Benz and BMW models, plus RM82,305 was also seized.
He said 10 suspects were detained in Penang, six in Klang and the rest in Kuala Lumpur, including three Nepalese, three Taiwanese and two local women aged between 24 and 60.
Initial investigations revealed that the syndicate marketed the drugs here and in several Asean countries because the syndicate was using two labs, one in Penang and another in Klang.
Noor Rashid said police records showed that six of the arrested suspects had previous criminal records for various offences, including distribution of drugs in a small scale.
“The Operation was a joint effort with the Drug Enforcement Division (DED) and Ministry Of Justice Investigation Bureau (MJIB) Republic of Taiwan,” he said. — Bernama
