Dead body found in Cheras mining pond

July 23, 2012

KUALA LUMPUR, July 23 — The body of a man was found floating in a mining pool near the Sri Johor Flats, 3 1/2 miles Jalan Cheras, here, today.

The man, whose identity is yet to be known, was found by a worker of Indah Water Konsortium at about 4.30pm.

Cheras police chief ACP Mohan Singh said the victim, found shirtless and only wearing a pair of shorts, was believed to have died four days ago based on his bloated stomach.

When contacted by Bernama today, Mohan said police did not rule out the possibility that it was the body of a fisherman who slipped and fell into Sungai Kerayong, Cheras four days ago.

“Police are still investigating whether there is any connection between the two cases,” he said.

The body was sent to Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Hospital in Cheras. — Bernama
