DJ has nose to thank for snagging fourth wife

May 12, 2011

KUALA LUMPUR, May 12 — Popular entertainer and radio deejay Salih Yaacob will soon take a 24-year-old university student as his fourth wife.

According to Malay tabloid Harian Metro, his fiancee, who only wanted to be known as Emi, will complete Salih’s quota of four wives.

Salih (picture), who has been polygamous for decades, will marry the Johor girl after Hari Raya Aidilfitri, which falls on August 30.

Emi said she was attracted to the actor, comedian and radio deejay because she likes his nose.

“He is cute, I like his sharp nose as that is a criteria for my dream man,” she said of the 50 year old.

She added, however, that looks were secondary and it was his nurturing character that shaped her into a good person that was key to the relationship.

“I like him for prioritising religion, caring for 11 children and three wives. I wondered how he can manage such a large family and ensure everyone is content. He told me the whole story and I fell for him,” Emi said.

Emi, who is currently pursuing a degree in logistics, said that when she first met the Suria FM deejay at a performance in Pangkor last November, she only wanted to take a photo with him as “everyone already knew he had a family and was polygamous.”

“But from wanting to know how he managed his wives, we got closer and exchanged SMSes and phone calls,” she said.

Emi added that it was not easy for her to convince her family to accept Salih due to his previous marriages as polygamy was not the norm for her relatives.

She said it took four months of praying before she summoned the courage to tell her family about Salih, beginning with her eldest sister.

Salih said he did not take the marriage to the youngest of five siblings lightly and it would not be an easy marriage because of her age.

“Everyday I remind her and give her advice and guidance so that she does not lose her way. Praise Allah she is someone who is obedient and knows the path to Allah,” he said.
