IPOH, April 26 —Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin today slammed DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng for his remarks that Malaysia practised Nazi doctrines, saying that they are not based on reality and are laced with political motives.
The deputy prime minister said the Barisan National (BN) administration’s policies were founded on the principles of democracy, were pro-business and flexible to suit the times.
He said BN considered the needs of all Malaysians irrespective of race or background.
Lim, the Penang chief minister, had implied in his Easter message on Sunday that the country practised racial supremacy in the way Nazi Germany did under Hitler in the 1940s.
In his Easter message, Lim had apparently said: “We should move away from the mind trap of fear based on hate, racism, extremism. We should not be taught to fear diversity. We should not be brainwashed with Hitlerian ideas that one is superior to another merely because of the colour of our skin.”
Muhyiddin said the BN government was farsighted in its administration and policies, giving Penang as an example as it has developed into a major metropolis because of federal-state co-operation when BN was in control of both governments.
He said Lim’s remarks were not fair, saying the proper yardstick to judge BN was per capita income which had risen to a level where the vast majority of the people were having a good life.
“So I don't understand what Guan Eng is talking about," Bernama quoted Muhyiddin as saying.
