Ex-Wanita Umno branch chief slashed to death
ALOR STAR, July 21 — Former Bukit Hangus Wanita Umno branch chief Halimah Yunus was found by her husband in a pool of blood and a slash wound on her neck at the couple’s home in Kampung Bukit Hangus, Jeneri, Sik, last night.
Her husband, Mee Hashim, 63, said after coming back from Tarawih prayers at 9.20pm, he found Halimah, 66, in their master bedroom and quickly alerted their neighbours before sending her to the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital.
Mee said his wife had been alone in the house as she was unwell due to asthma.
“When I reached home from the surau, I called out to her and then found her in the bedroom in a pool of blood. But she could still speak, saying that a man had stabbed her,” he said.
Mee said there were signs of a break-in from the back door but no valuables were missing from the house including the jewellery that his wife had on her.
The couple have a married 46-year-old daughter who lives in Sungai Petani.
Sik district police chief DSP Mohd Ismail Ibrahim said Halimah died on the way to hospital and the initial investigation found she had only one slash wound on the neck. — Bernama
