Face masks for high-risk groups at clinics, hospitals

People in high-risk groups such as those suffering from asthma, senior citizens and children will be given face masks at health clinics and hospitals.

Selangor Health director Datuk Dr Azman Abu Bakar said the directive was issued by the Health Minister to all state health offices.

"Following the haze, we worry about the health of senior citizens, children and those with asthma," he told a news conference after the Tobacco Product Regulations Enforcement 2004 operation at the Low-Cost Carrier Terminal, in Sepang yesterday.

Dr Azman said monitoring was also done in Selangor through the operations rooms which kept track of patients who received treatment for haze-related illnesses.

On claims that N95 face masks had run out in Selangor, he said the matter would be investigated. - Bernama, June 24, 2013.
