Favourites in the lead in Umno Youth, Wanita and Puteri elections

Mas Ermieyati Samsudin, the candidate for the post of Puteri Umno chief, has garnered 53 votes while for the post of Wanita Umno chief, incumbent Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil, received 20 votes as per the results announced as at 7.30pm today.

In the Umno Youth elections, Khairy Jamaluddin is in the lead with 26 vote.

The latest results of the Umno elections for the three wings - Wanita Umno, Umno Youth and Puteri Umno - which took place today at the party's 191 divisions was announced by Umno Election Committee chairman Tan Sri Tajol Rosli Ghazali at the Umno headquarters at the Putra World Trade Centre, in Kuala Lumpur.

In the Puteri Umno race, Mas Ermieyati was trailed by Jamilah Hanim Othman, who has received 16 votes.

Meanwhile, only one of Shahrizat's two challengers has made an impact so far with Datuk Maznah Mazlan getting one vote.

In the race for the deputy Umno Youth chief position, Khairul Azwan Harun is in the lead with 17 votes with Mohamad Iruwan Zulkefli (3) dan Jamawi Jaafar (4) trailing.

Wanita Umno deputy chief candidate Datuk Azizah Muhd Dun also has a healthy lead with 14 votes against Datuk Suraya Yaacob's three votes.

Zahida Zarik Khan leads the Puteri Umno number two race with 30 votes against 21 for Norsabrina Mohd Noor and nine for Nazliah Ali.

Elections were held today for the key posts in the three Umno wings in every state except Sarawak where Umno does not have a presence.

About 230,000 delegates participated in the elections for the three wings, with 110,765 in Wanita Umno, 70,000 in Umno Youth and 50,000 in Puteri Umno. - October 12, 2013.
