Hisham: GTP phase two to tackle crimes against children, women
KUALA LUMPUR, July 25 — Crimes against children and women will be among the issues on the main agenda of the Government Transformation Programme (GTP), Phase Two, annual report, Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein emphasised today.
He said the matter was discussed at a Cabinet meeting today, with an emphasis on reducing incidents of crime involving children and women, under the National Key Results Area (NKRA).
“The children and women issue needs a different approach under the GTP now. The National Registration Department and Women, Family and Community Development Ministry will be involved this time,” he told reporters after a visit to the Chow Kit Children’s Activity Centre, here today.
He added that members of several volunteer programmes such as 1 Malaysia Youth For You (1M4U), the Home Ministry’s Young Squad and related non-governmental organisations would be roped in to help with the Second Phase of the GTP.
In a separate development, he said the Cabinet had today approved the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on human trafficking between Malaysia and China, next week.
“We’ve been discussing the issue with China for a long time and will finally ink the MoU next week,” he said. — Bernama
