Kedah police detain 3,804 drug offenders in Jan-March period
ALOR SETAR, April 14 — The Kedah Narcotics Department apprehended 3,804 on various drug-related offences in the first three months of this year, according to Bernama.
Bernama reported Kedah’s Chief of Police Datuk Ahmad Ibrahim saying that of the amount, 97 were drug dealers detained under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, 95 under Section 39A(2) and another 158 under Section 39A(1).
Ahmad said the police had stepped up its efforts via an operation dubbed Ops Tapis concentrating on the entrance of the Immigration, Customs and Quarantine complex at Bukit Kayu Hitam as well as toll plazas.
Also surveyed were bus stations, airports and taxi terminals among other places known to be places where drugs were sold, said Ahmad to reporters at an event in Kedah today.
