Khalid: Selangor civil servants may receive Aidilfitri bonuses too
SHAH ALAM, July 23 — Selangor promised today the same Hari Raya bonus for state civil servants if Putrajaya announces a payout at federal level.
But Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim denied this was the state’s game of “one-upmanship”, according to English daily The Star this morning.
“If the federal staff gets it, so will the civil servants working in the state. This is not about one-upmanship.
“It will be the same (amount) because it relates to pension,” he was quoted as telling reporters at the state secretariat here.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak was reported as saying yesterday that the government would have to refer to its account books before deciding on a Hari Raya bonus for civil servants.
The suggestion was first mooted by Cuepacs on July 16 to ease the financial burden of Muslim celebrants during the month of Ramadan.
Its president Datuk Omar Osman had also said that Cuepacs does not want irresponsible traders to arbitrarily hike the prices of essential goods each time it appeals for government incentives.
