KL police to monitor 15 hot spots over Raya

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 8 — Kuala Lumpur police will monitor closely 15 hot spots during the Aidilfitri celebration from next week with a view to preventing a spike in crime over the extended holiday period.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Mohmad Salleh said 11 hot spots around the capital were highlighted in August 2009 and four more were added to the list early last year following an increase in crime in those areas.

“The monitoring of the hot spots are carried out all the time, not just during festive seasons. but they will be monitored more closely during the festive season,” he told reporters at the launch of a crime prevention campaign in conjunction with Aidilfitri, at Jalan Masjid India, here, today.

He said the 15 areas involved were in Cheras (five), Sentul (four), Brickfields (three) and Dang Wangi (three). — Bernama
