Labourer beaten to death over RM30
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 21 — A loan of RM30 has cost a contract labourer his life, after the friend whom he lent the money to beat him to death at the Maju Jaya Industrial Estate, Puchong Utama, near here yesterday.
Mohamad Khairul Anuar Osman, 28, who succumbed to severe head injuries, was pronounced dead at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) at about 4am today.
Subang Jaya deputy police chief, Supt Tan Ah Chua, said police detained a suspect, together with a friend, at about 1.30pm today in Bukit Nanas here, and seized the alleged murder weapon as well.
The incident was believed to have occurred after the suspect, a 55-year-old man, lost his temper when the victim asked him to repay the money.
“The suspect and his friend went to the victim’s rented house at about 4.30pm yesterday and attacked him with a long plank,” he said in an SMS today.
The victim was taken to the Serdang Hospital by a housemate and was later transferred to HKL, said Tan.
The case has been classified as murder. — Bernama
