Labourer turned ‘snatch thief’ arrested, victims hospitalised

KUALA TERENGGANU, Jan 3 — Police arrested yesterday a labourer five hours after his botched snatch theft attempt in Kampung Rajawali here.

A 37-year-old motorcycle-riding kindergarten teacher ferrying her five-year-old son was the intended victim in the earlier 2.30pm incident, Bernama Online reported.

Both of them fell-off their vehicle and were seriously injured. They are now hospitalised at Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital, with their conditions stabilised now.

The 26-year-old suspect was nabbed at 6.30pm while hiding-out at his brother-in-law’s Kampung Rhu Batil’s home, said Terengganu CID chief ACP K.Manoharan.

The arrest was easy to make because the suspect fled the incident scene without his motorcycle, and police only had to trace his registration number to track him and his whereabouts.
