Lembah Pantai Umno Youth denies starting ruckus at PKR rally

May 26, 2012

KUALA LUMPUR, May 26 — Lembah Pantai Umno Youth has denied  allegations that it started a ruckus at a Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) rally in Pantai Dalam on Thursday.

Its Umno Youth chief Datuk Mohamad Sazali Kamilan said the ruckus occurred after PKR adviser Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim gave a provocative speech against Umno Youth.

"Anybody can make such allegations. Since it was dark, we can't say for sure  who started the ruckus.

"Several Umno Youth members were also hurt after hit by rocks but we did not say that opposition supporters were responsible," he told a press conference here today.

A ruckus broke out at a PKR rally near Apartment Pantai Permai on Thursday and PKR leaders reportedly accused Umno Youth members of starting it.

In Putrajaya, Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin said he took a serious view of allegations that youth members started a ruckus at a PKR rally in Pantai Dalam on Thursday.

"We are investigating the allegations because it is not easy to identify individuals who triggered the ruckus as there was provocation," he said after attending a cheerleading competition to mark National Youth Day celebrations today. — Bernama
