SANDAKAN, Sept 4 – Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) president Datuk Liew Vui Keong today denied that another of its vice president would follow in the footsteps of Sabah Deputy Chief Minister Peter Pang En Yin and quit the party.
He said the vice president concerned Isaac Pang Su Kiun had given his assurance that he would remain with the LDP.
“Isaac now is holidaying overseas, which he had planned six months ago,” he told a press conference at LDP’s Karamunting branch here today.
Prior to the press conference, Liew had had a meeting with the leaders of its Karamunting, Tanjung Papat, Elopura, Gum-Gum, Sekong and Sungai Sibuga branches.
He said all the branch leaders attended the meeting except for Pang, Isaac and Gum Gum branch head Jasaon Tan, who had notified that he would not be able to be present.
Liew said the meeting was to update the leaders on the latest developments in the LDP which was somewhat shaken as a result of Pang leaving.
He added that Pang’s exit would not have much of an effect on the LDP’s strength and that the party would be focussing on winning the people’s support for the BN. – Bernama
