SINGAPORE, Jan 6 — A Malaysian man was charged in a court here today with six counts of deceiving four women of S$55,000 (RM132,000) in an Internet scam, Singapore’s Straits Times newspaper reported.
Horse racing manager Peter Aw Boo Cheong , 40, allegedly cheated the women of between S$5,000 and S$25,000 each.
He is alleged to have told the women that he would help them place their money on a horse race which he knew was false.
The women he was alleged to have cheated were named as Tina Kong Kim Choo, 45, an executive, of a total of S$25,000; manager Yap Soo Fang, 37, of S$10,000; housing agent Lee Le Choo, 44, of S$15,000; and nurse Sally Tan, 46, of S$5,000.
Aw faces a jail term of up to 10 years and a fine for each charge.
