MB to present study on new voters in Selangor to EC

June 30, 2012

SHAH ALAM, June 30 — Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim will present the study on the list of 500,000 new voters in all state constituencies in Selangor to the Election Commission (EC) in July.

He said the detailed report on the study to identify the list of new voters registered since 2008, including scrutinising whether the voters and addresses contained in the EC list really existed, would be obtained next week.

“We will meet with the EC and present our report on the study to ascertain that the list is truly transparent,” he said in a media conference after opening the Selangor Knowledge Day and Book Festival 2012, here today.

Khalid (picture) said the study on the list of new voters was carried out in all the 56 state constituencies in Selangor which saw an increase of between 3,000 and 21,000 new voters for each state constituency.

He said this when asked to comment on the meeting to be held by the EC with all political parties at the national and state levels to explain matters pertaining to the 13th General Election beginning July.

Meanwhile, Khalid said 400,000 visitors were expected to come to the book fair which was being held at the Shah Alam Convention Centre until July 9. — Bernama
