LUMUT, July 31 — Changkat Keruing MCA branch chief Lim Ping Peng was found dead in a well at a chicken farm in Changkat Keruing, Ayer Tawar here today.
His body was found by family members this morning, Manjung OCPD ACP Mohd Jamil Osman said.
He said Lim, 49, had gone to the farm not far from his house at 8am yesterday and did not return home.
“His family reported the matter to the police last night and also conducted a search around the farm area but could not find him. This morning they went to the farm and inspected the five-metre-deep well.
“That was when they saw his legs protruding slightly out of the water,” he told Bernama.
He said police also found that the victim’s car and two Myanmar farm workers were missing.
Police were still investigating the motives and that a manhunt for the two Myanmar nationals was under way, he said.
Lim’s wife Ling Mooi Kooi, 47, said that last week two Myanmar nationals came to see her husband to borrow RM2,000.
“After some negotiations, my husband agreed to give them RM500. I don’t know whether the money had been given to them.
“Last night when my husband did not return home, I contacted his mobile phone but it went unanswered,” she said, adding that when they came to the farm to look for him, they found that the gate was opened and that Lim’s car and the two farm workers were nowhere to be seen. — Bernama
