PETALING JAYA, Aug 16 — Cuba — globally renowned for medicine and healthcare — is opening up study places to Malaysians this year.
The Latin American School of Medicine, claiming to be the largest medical school in the world, is offering undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, said Nestor Torres, second secretary at the Cuban embassy here.
Torres said there have been Malaysian intakes since 2007 but not many are aware of the opportunity, Bernama Online reported.
Those applying however have to learn Spanish as Cuban schools teach in that language only.
He said successful candidates can start their study in the communist country in September.
Government –run Latin American School enrolled more than 10,000 from 29 countries in 2010.
More information is available at the Cuban mission located at No. 18, Jalan Kent 2, Off Jalan Maktab in Kuala Lumpur, or by phone at 03-26911066.
