Muhyiddin calls on Malaysians to preserve unity
MUAR, June 9 — Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin today called on Malaysians of various races to preserve unity as it was and will be a pre-condition for the country’s success.
He stressed that the people have no other choice but to defend Barisan Nasional (BN) led by Umno as it is the only institution that can guarantee their future.
“We must defend this institution from being destroyed by traitors. We can’t allow them to destroy this country,” he said when opening the traditional sports carnival at Felda Sri Ledang here.
The Umno deputy president (picture) said the goal of making Malaysia a high income developed nation by 2020 depends on to what extent racial unity could be preserved.
“Our goal of making Malaysia a high income developed nation can’t be achieved if people of all races are not united there is a crisis between the races.”
The people must not be influenced by the opposition who raised matters enshrined in the constitution like the royal institution, Malay language and Islam as the official religion.
Muhyiddin also presented wheelchairs to three disabled persons after performing zohor prayers at Masjid Felda Sri Ledang. — Bernama
