
PUTRAJAYA, July 10 — Datuk Seri Najib Razak said more products and services related to the 1 Malaysia concept would be introduced to the public.
The prime minister said the government had started by introducing the 1 Malaysia Clinic and the issuing of international passports within an hour of application. He said other products and services in compliant with the 1 Malaysia concept were being identified.
“The 1 Malaysia concept is not restricted to unity. It is much more extensive.
“It is part of the slogan ‘People First, Performance Now’ which means that we must relate to 1 Malaysia products which cater to the interests of the people,” he told reporters after opening the Putrajaya Flower and Garden Festival (Floria 2010), here today.
Commenting the development of the 1 Malaysia concept, he said the concept and idea should be understood and appreciated.
“At present, it may seem more ceremonial in nature. After this, we will enter the phase of introducing products and services related to the 1 Malaysia idea,” he said.
At present, 26 Immigration Department branches were issuing international passports within an hour of application, he said, adding that he had asked the branches to display posters with the 1 Malaysia symbol to denote the one-hour processing period.
The prime minister’s wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ng Yen Yen and Deputy Federal Territories and Urban Well-being Minister Datuk M. Saravanan were also present at the event. — Bernama
