Najib to launch RM25m road works during Felda Telui visit
PUTRAJAYA, July 28 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak will officiate the ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of Jalan Kampung Merbau Kudung Felda Telui Timur-Jalan Merbau Kudung in Kedah tomorrow.
Felda liaison director in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Noorehsanuddin Mohd. Harun Narrashid said construction of the 8.7km road, costing about RM25 million, would link Felda Telui Timur to Kg Merbau Kudung at Batu 5, Sik.
“Local residents have long been waiting for the road. It will shorten the distance by more than 30 minutes,” he told reporters here.
He said construction of the road would also help to stimulate economic growth in the area, as well as boost land price.
During the one-day working visit to Kedah, Noorehsanuddin said the prime minister will also be taken to Kg Telui Timur, Jalan Bandar Hilir, Sik to visit a house belonging to one of the recipients of aid under the “Kampung Sejahtera Inspirasi Felda” or “Kasih Felda”, a programme to help repair houses neighbouring Felda settlements.
An estimated 1,000 houses in the neighbourhood will benefit from the programme, he said, adding that the eligible households would receive RM5,000 each to repair their house.
He said Najib would also open the national-level “Rahmat Ramadan” programme at the field of Sekolah Kebangsaan Bandar Baru Beris Jaya in Sik.
“It is annual programme where aid will be given to the needy who include residents in Felda land schemes and the neighbouring areas.
“This year, the programme is held for the first outside a Felda settlement area,” he added. — Bernama
