Nazri wants cops to probe Ngeh over tweet
PADANG RENGAS, Sept 21 — Police should open an investigation paper on Perak DAP chairman Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham’s remarks questioning the moves taken by Muslim in protesting the “Innocence Of Muslims” film, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz said.
He said Ngeh’s remarks had obviously sparked anger among Muslims in the country and many quarters had also lodged police reports on the matter.
“After the police open an investigation paper, it will be submitted to the Attorney-General’s Chambers. The Attorney-General will decide under which Section the case will be investigated,” Nazri (picture) told reporters here today.
Ngeh, in his tweet two days ago, had allegedly questioned Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaludin’s intention to stage a protest against the short film and asked whether Muslims were spending too much time and energy on the issue.
The low-budget film directed by Sam Bacile from California, which depicted Prophet Muhammad in a bad light, had sparked violent protests across the Muslim world. — Bernama
