No housing scheme allowed in small-industry zones, says Zambry
IPOH, July 24 — Government agencies and other parties cannot sell land in small-industry zones for the purpose of developing housing projects as this would pose problems to the residents, said Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Zambry Abdul Kadir.
Referring to the case of Taman Bukit Merah, Taman Badrishah and Taman Impiana Adril, Menglembu here, Zambry (picture) said the matter was provided for under the Town and Rural Planning Act.
“We cannot mix development in certain areas with other areas, for example, if it is a housing area, then it must be ensured that it remains a housing area,” he told reporters after the Meet the Clients Day, here today.
He was asked to comment on complaints by residents in the three housing areas concerned who, among other things, claimed that their health had deteriorated due to the existence of a concrete factory there.
They also claimed that their daily life was affected by the noise pollution from the factory that operated 24 hours a day.
Commenting further, Zambry said he would personally visit the area to resolve the problem. — Bernama
