Pahang to expand affordable housing scheme

June 30, 2012

BENTONG, June 30 — The Pahang government will build more houses under the Affordable Housing Programme to enable more people with a monthly income of less than RM3,000 to own their own house.

Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob (picture) said 76 houses would be built under a pioneer project in Kampung Kemahang, Lipis.

“The pre-fabricated three-bedroom houses will be built soon and the project will be expanded to other areas in Pahang,” he told reporters after a “Leader With the People” programme in Kampung Janda Baik near here.

He said the land and district offices would be asked to find suitable locations for the housing project.

In a related development, Adnan said the state government would approve applications for land to build houses by the people in the state if the site concerned did not involve areas already gazetted for state government projects or river reserves. — Bernama
