Penang DAP wants Mansor’s ‘arrogant Guan Eng’ remark explained
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 23 — Penang DAP said today it will seek clarification from Datuk Dr Mansor Othman over his alleged criticism of DAP and "arrogant" on Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, which was revealed in the leaked meeting minutes of a recent PKR strategic meeting.
State DAP chairman Chow Kon Yeow also denied in a statement here claims made in the same PKR meeting that DAP had demanded to contest in additional seats for the coming election, paving the way for possible three-corner fights in DAP's northern fortress.
"The Penang DAP has not make any demand for additional seats and has ruled out any possibility of three corner fights with our Pakatan (Rakyat) partners.
"Any comments regarding seat arrangements in Penang reports in the online news portal are solely made in the content of internal PKR electoral discussion and in no way reflected the reality," the Padang Kota assemblyman said in the statement.
According to news portal Malaysiakini, Lim and Mansor (picture), who is also deputy chief minister I and Penang PKR chief, will hold a joint press conference to clarify the matter in Penang at 11am tomorrow.
Earlier today, the news portal reported the leaked meeting minutes and quoted Mansor as expressing disappointment that details of the meet, which was held on March 19 to discuss preparations for the coming polls, had been published in verbatim in a blog titled "Gelagat Anwar".
"Give me a few days, I am investigating the matter. The contents of the posting on the blog are based on genuine concerns but what I cannot accept is the leakage," he was quoted as telling Malaysiakini.
The portal also reported that Mansor had assured his subordinates during the meeting that he would not budge if DAP were to request for any seats from PKR.
The leader had also purportedly said that PKR's Chinese candidates were viewed as a "threat" to the DAP.
On his "arrogant" label of Lim, the minutes quoted Mansor as saying, "He (Guan Eng) is very arrogant, I tell you... cocky and arrogant. It is not easy. Now more arrogant.
"They (the DAP) are sure of winning 19 (seats) and they want more. Because with two more (seats) they can form their own government and they can take from us (PKR reps) to be on their side and (then) abandon us (PKR)."
