Penang police bust 100 ‘Mat Rempit’ in pre-dawn ops
GEORGE TOWN, July 28 — The police nabbed 100 motorcylists or “Mat Rempit” who participated in an illegal race, at a roadblock in Padang Kota Lama here early today.
Timur Laut branch traffic police head of operation Insp Muhammad Najib Zulkifli said the suspects, aged between 16 and 25, were picked up about 2.30am, in the “Ops Kepung” blitz.
He said about 30 summonses for various traffic offences were issued to some of the suspects. — Bernama
