Police bicycle patrols for Terengganu resort islands
BESUT, July 21 — Terengganu police plan to set up a “bicycle brigade” to make it safer for tourists holidaying on the scenic Redang and Perhentian islands.
State police chief Datuk Jamshah Mustapa said the new unit of bicycle-riding policemen would make crime prevention patrols much easier and save on energy as well.
He said the unit was part of a collaboration between the police and Terengganu Tourism Malaysia to boost the state’s tourism industry by making the islands safer for tourists.
Previously, the state police had launched bicycle patrols for beaches and town areas at Pasar Payang, Pantai Batu Buruk and Tamadun Islam Park, among others. — Bernama
