Police detained trader who tried to hide crackers in MPV

KUCHING, Sept 4 – A trader’s attempt to make a quick profit by selling crackers and sparklers prior to the Aidilfitri celebration landed him in the police lockup.

Kuching police chief ACP Mun Kock Keong said acting on public information, police detained the 56-year-old man from Lundu District at the parking lot behind a supermarket in Jalan Penrissen, Batu 4 1/2 here today.

“Police went and inspected a Proton Exora MPV belonging to the suspect and found inside seven boxes of firecrackers and sparklers.

“He was detained together with a 44 year-old accomplice who tried to bribe a police officer with RM1,200 to let the suspect off,” Mun said. – Bernama
