SHAH ALAM, Aug 1 — Selangor police have recorded statements from five people to facilitate investigations into the murder of a television executive in Petaling Jaya last Saturday.

TV9 administration executive Syaleza Jaffar, 31, was found dead at about 7pm, at her Saujana Apartment unit in Damansara Damai. She had strangulation marks around her neck.

State CID chief SAC Mohd Adnan Abdullah said the five comprised three of the victim’s neighbours and two staff of the television station.

“The statements obtained would be used to assist in the investigation, as well as evidence collection, on the case.

“Apart from that, there may be several more witnesses whom we may call shortly, to record their statements on the case,” he told a news conference at the Selangor police headquarters here today.

Last Saturday, Syaleza’s husband found her dead in the bedroom of their apartment.

Police investigations revealed she died of asphyxiation and there were signs of strangulation.

On Monday, the police detained the victim’s husband in Segamat, Johor at 10.15pm to facilitate investigations into the case.

The information technology personnel was remanded until August 6. — Bernama
