Police rescue businesswoman; nab alleged abductor
JOHOR BAHRU, July 10 — Police rescued a businesswoman and detained a gunman who abducted her in her car in Taman Sentosa here last Friday.
A police team found the woman in the car with the 35-year-old suspect in Jalan Tampoi Lama, about an hour after the incident.
A revolver loaded with three rounds of ammunition was seized from the suspect.
Johor police deputy chief Datuk Ismail Yatim said today the suspect had entered the victim’s Mini Cooper via its open sunroof before abducting the Kuala Lumpur-based businesswoman in the incident at about 3am.
He said a police team, which was alerted to the abduction, later spotted the car with the woman and suspect inside.
The suspect was remanded for a week to facilitate investigations.
In another case, the police detained a 42-year-old man who was allegedly in possession of 57 rounds of ammunition and component parts of four dismantled fake pistols during a raid at a house in Taman Larkin Idaman last Friday.
The ammunition was meant for a general purpose machine gun.
The suspect who was nabbed at the house in the 4.30pm incident was remanded for four days to facilitate investigations. — Bernama
