Police say formed team to find agitators at Penang DAP do
GEORGE TOWN, Sept 7 — The police have set up a special team to identify those behind an attempt to create chaos at the Aidilfitri open house organised by the state DAP on Wednesday.
State CID chief SAC Mazlan Kesah said the police were carrying out a comprehensive investigation into the incident and had called several witnesses to give information.
“We will look at the case from numerous quarters, namely, traders, state executive council members and other aspects,” he told reporters here today.
However, he declined further comment.
Mazlan said the case was investigated under Section 9 (1) of the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012 and Section 427 of the Penal Code for committing vandalism and causing damage.
During the incident, 20 traders from Padang Kota Lama gathered in the compound of the Community Centre in Jalan Patani here, which was the location of the Aidilfitri open house organised by the state DAP.
The gathering, however, became chaotic when a state executive council member refused to meet the request of the traders for a meeting to discuss some problems. — Bernama
