KAJANG, Feb 3 — The police are looking for four Colombians who attempted to haul an ATM machine out of a wall of a supermarket in Bandar Teknologi Kajang last Saturday, Bernama Online reported today.
The news portal said a gang of five attempted to drive away with the ATM machine in the early hours of Saturday morning by attaching it to a Chery Easter MPV with an iron cable.
The Colombians’ plan was foiled when the cable came unfastened and a police patrol car arrived at the scene.
One of the perpetrators was arrested following a brief scuffle while the rest escaped in the MPV.
Kajang police chief ACP Ab Rashid Ab Wahab said today that initial investigations have uncovered the Colombians as alarm system specialists.
He added the 35-year-old suspect was remanded to facilitate investigations into the attempted theft.
