Police suspect triad link in ex-EO detainee’s shooting

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 2 — The murder of a former detainee under the Emergency Ordinance (EO) who was gunned down recently, will be investigated for possible links with triads, said Selangor CID chief SAC Mohd Adnan Abdullah.

“At the moment, we are still investigating the motive and no arrests have been made,” he told reporters at the final of the Selangor Police Chief Cup futsal final here today.

Also present was Selangor police chief Datuk Tun Hisan Hamzah. 

Mohd Adnan said police had interviewed the victim’s wife over the case but had yet to record a statement from her.

K. Archuthan, 41, a former Emergency Ordinance detainee, was shot dead while waiting for his son in front of a secondary school in Selayang Baru on August 29.

In the incident, the victim’s wife, who was also in the same car with the victim, was also shot in the waist. — Bernama
