Police want to quiz Nizar over military link remark

IPOH, April 30 — The police want to question former Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Nizar Jamaluddin over his recent statement linking the prime minister and senior military officials to the outcome of the next general election.

A police summons will be issued to the Bukit Gantang MP within 14 days to seek his help in the investigations into his statement, Perak Chief Police Officer DCP Datuk Mohd Shukri Dylan said today according to a report in The Star Online.

Nizar was reported to have implied that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak had met senior military officials to discuss how the armed forces could support the Barisan Nasional coalition should it lose power in the coming general election.

“We view it as a high-profile case because it is of national interest,” Shukri was quoted as saying in the report.
