PETALING JAYA, Feb 14 — The Magistrate’s Court here was told popular comedian Saiful Apek tested positive for drug usage after being caught in a police raid two years ago.
Sergeant M. Sanggar, 48, said he conducted urine tests on 42-yesar-old Saiful, whose real name is Mohd Saifulazam Mohamed Yusoff, along with three associates with him. All four were positive.
Shah Zainatull Ehsan Al-Muazam Shah Yahya, 28, Shaiful Baharom, 24, and Noremy Mohamad, 28, were present in the Bandar Sunway house during the raid.
Sanggar was the second prosecution witness questioned by deputy public prosecutor Ahmad Ishrakh Saad.
He is from the Subang Jaya Police Headquarters Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department. Sanggar handed the samples after completing his examination to investigating officer inspector Rozlia Razali.
Saiful Apek and the three co-accused pleaded not guilty to consuming cannabis last November 1.
They were charged under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. If convicted they may be jailed for two years or fined RM5,000.
In an earlier testimony, intelligence officer chief inspector Mohd Shaifuddin Zulkifli said their June 12, 2010 10pm raid on the residence resulted in the discovery of ganja.
He explained three men and a woman were caught in that operation and then sent to Subang Jaya Police Headquarters where they were made to take urine tests under the supervision of Sanggar and Rozlia.
Mohd Shaifuddin, according to his testimony, then passed the specimens to narcotics case investigating officer Inspector Syed Mohd Rohayat Syed Ramlee after Rozlia handed them to him at 11.15pm and 12.05am (June 13 2010).
Counsels Zambri Idrus and Mohd Fadli Hashim represent the four accused.
Magistrate Ahmad Solihin Abd Wahid continues presiding when hearing resumes on March 27.
