Prasarana: All safety measures adhered to in LRT extension
KUALA LUMPUR, July 25 — Syarikat Prasarana Negara Berhad (Prasarana), the project and asset owner of the light rail transit (LRT) line extension project, said engineers working for the project are highly qualified and experienced to ensure all safety measures are strictly observed.
Prasarana group communications chief Masnizam Hisham said that in addition, contractors would be strictly supervised by Prasarana and officials from the Occupational Safety and Health Department under the Human Resources Ministry.
“We would like to emphasise that the safety of people is paramount to Prasarana when undertaking its project and in providing its services.
“At no time will safety be compromised in discharging our duties,” she said in a statement today in response to safety concerns raised by some.
Masnizam said Prasarana and its contractors have been working closely with all the relevant agencies — both at state and federal levels — especially in securing all necessary approvals and permits, including for pre-work.
“Prasarana would like to stress that all work undertaken by the company and its contractors would only commence after issuance of the necessary permits and approvals by the relevant authorities,” she added. — Bernama
