Sabah state assembly dissolved for election

KOTA KINABALU, April 3 – Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman today announced the dissolution of the state legislative assembly to enable the state election to be held simultaneously with the 13th federal polls.

He made the announcement at about 4pm at the official residence of the chief minister, Sri Gaya, here, after obtaining the consent of the Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Juhar Mahiruddin at the Istana Negeri.

Musa, who is the state Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman, said he hoped that the election in Sabah would be smooth and peaceful.

Sabah’s security came under threat recently following the intrusion of armed terrorists from the southern Philippines.

Meanwhile, the speaker of the last state assembly, Datuk Seri Salleh Said Keruak, when contacted by Bernama, said he had notified the state Election Commission (EC) of the dissolution of the state assembly. – Bernama
