Sebuyau chopper crash: Last victim found

KUCHING, July 22 — The body of the last victim of a helicopter crash in Sebuyau, about 150km from here, last Friday was found at about 7.40am today.

Sri Aman OCPD, DSP Mat Jusoh Mohamad, who confirmed the discovery, said a group of fishermen found the remains of 42-year-old architect, Henry Loh, near Pulau Tereso, near Sebuyau.

Mat Jusoh said upon discovery, the body was brought to a nearby rural clinic before being transferred to the Sarawak General Hospital in Kuching.

Meanwhile, scores of local dignitaries gathered at the home of Siti Khuzaimah Anuar, 27, a surveyor who also perished in the incident.

Sarawak’s Welfare, Women and Family Development Minister, Datuk Fatimah Abdullah, Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Office, Datuk Daud Abdul Rahman and Datuk Sng Chee Hua, the chairman of Sebiro Holdings, who owned the ill-fated EC120 helicopter, were among those paying their last respects.

Siti Khuzaimah, who had planned to get married this December, will be laid to rest at the Kampung Gita Muslim cemetery here this afternoon.

A 53-year-old engineer, Peter Ato Mayo, also died in the crash, which occurred while the aircraft was heading towards Nanga Merit in Kapit.

The pilot of the aircraft, 35-year-old Rico Steger from Germany, survived the crash. — Bernama
