Selangor BN wants PKNS to explain takeover of Talam debts

July 28, 2012

SHAH ALAM, July 28 —Selangor Barisan Nasional (BN) wants the State Development Corporation (PKNS) to explain the corporation’s takeover of Talam Corporation Berhad’s (Talam) debts.

Its co-ordinator, Datuk Seri Mohd Zin Mohamed, said PKNS owed Selangor people an explanation of its takeover of Talam’s debts, amounting to RM392 million, from Permodalan Negeri Selangor Berhad, Kumpulan Hartanah Selangor Berhad and Universiti Selangor.

“PKNS general manager Othman Omar should explain why PKNS is willing to take over Talam’s debts when everybody knows that PKNS is established to help those who cannot afford to buy houses and property.

“If PKNS’s role has changed to taking over the debts of corporate companies, then it should also take over the debts owed by the Selangor people,” he told a media conference here today.

On residents in Seri Kembangan who were supplied with water recently, Mohd Zin said it proved that there was a water crisis in Selangor and the need for the Langat 2 water treatment plant project.

“The state government should stop lying to the people by claiming that there is enough water,” he added. — Bernama
