Shot thrice and slashed, man dies outside Ayer Tawar home

IPOH, May 21 — A man died after being hacked and shot by two unidentified men in front of his house in Kampung Tun Sambanthan, Ayer Tawar, about 70km from here, last night.

Manjung deputy police chief DSP Ahmad Mat Isa said the incident was reported by the public and when the police reached the crime scene, they found the body of S. Nachiemuthu, 40, lying on the ground with slash wounds on his head, as well as three gunshot wounds on his chest, forehead and leg.

The incident occurred at 11.30pm when the victim, who had just returned home from Sitiwan town, was approached by the two unidentified men.

“The victim who exited his car was then attacked by the two men with a machete,” he said when contacted today.

Ahmad said the victim then tried to escape by returning to his car but one of the two men then took out a pistol and fired three shots in his direction.

The victim, who suffered severe injuries, died on the spot and his body was sent to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital in Ipoh for a post-mortem.

Both assailants fled using a Honda car.

Police are investigating the motive and have not yet made any arrests.

They are requesting the co-operation of witnesses to the incident in contacting the Manjung Police Headquarters at 05-6899222 to help in the investigations. — Bernama
