Siblings nabbed with 1.8kg heroin
ALOR STAR, June 26 — Two siblings were nabbed with 1.8kg of heroin in their possession, estimated to be worth about RM36,000, last Sunday during a police raid in Aman Jaya, Sungai Petani.
During the 8.30pm operation carried out by the Kedah police Narcotics Crime Investigation Department, the two suspects aged 33 and 25, both from Sik, Kedah and Gerik, Perak were arrested while they were riding a motorcycle.
Kedah deputy police chief Datuk Abdul Ghafar Rajab said four packs of the drugs, weighing 1.8kg were found in the front carrier of the motorcycle.
“Police also found RM5,000 on them,” he told reporters here today.
Police believe the drugs were to be packed into smaller packages before being distributed in and around Sungai Petani.
“Initial investigations also revealed that the suspects obtained the drugs from Seberang Jaya, Penang,” he said, adding that both suspects tested negative for drugs.
Police believed both suspects, who have previous criminal records for drug offences, were actively involved in drug trafficking for almost a year. — Bernama
