Six held over RM430,000 theft at KLIA warehouse

August 10, 2012

SHAH ALAM, Aug 10 — Police arrested six men believed to have stolen 2,400 boxes of cholesterol-reducing drugs worth RM430,000 from the MAS Kargo warehouse at the KL International Airport (KLIA) in Sepang last week.

Selangor police chief Datuk Tun Hisan Tun Hamzah said the suspects, aged between 30 and 46, were believed to have vast experience in cargo and freight management.

He said they were nabbed between last Saturday and Monday in separate raids in KLIA, Sungai Pelek, Subang Jaya, Sungai Buloh here and Slim River in Perak.

“Police also retrieved 1,752 out of the 2,400 boxes of drugs, as well as RM29,000.

“Our investigation revealed that 648 boxes of the drugs had been distributed to numerous pharmacies in the Klang Valley, Penang and Miri, Sarawak,” he told a press conference here today.

Tun Hisan said based on the closed-circuit television cameras footage, the suspects had posed as women to fool the security guards before using a forklift left idle by the workers to break into the warehouse. — Bernama
