Six senior citizens trapped by flash floods rescued in Selayang

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 27 — Six senior citizens were evacuated tonight after they were trapped in their house in Selayang near here by flash floods, following a heavy downpour this afternoon.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (operations) Mohd Sani Harul said, a group of firemen, two engines and a lifeboat were deployed to carry out the rescue at 7.45pm.

He said the flash floods also affected Kampung Nakhoda, Kampung Laksamana and Ulu Yam Baharu.

“The water level was reported to have exceeded 1.5 metres but it has shown signs of receding,” he said when contacted by Bernama tonight.

Mohd Sani said the total number of victims involved in the three areas had yet to be ascertained. — Bernama
