Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak today announced a half-month bonus, with a minimum payment of RM500, for civil servants and a special payment of RM500 for government pensioners.
The payments will be made on August 9, he said in a statement.
In Kuala Lumpur, Cuepacs has described the bonus for civil servants and special payment for pensioners as the government’s appreciation to a dedicated service rendered by civil servants and pensioners.
Thanking the government, Cuepacs president Datuk Omar Osman said the bonus and special payment were meaningful, especially to middle-income civil servants and pensioners in making preparations for Aidilfitri.
Malaysian Government Pensioners’ Association president Datuk Paduka Raja Wan Mahmood Pawan Teh said the special payment proved the government’s appreciation towards pensioners for their service and sacrifice to the nation.
Reminding pensioners to spend the money wisely, he said both payments reflected Najib’s sincerity and concern for the welfare of civil servants and pensioners.
He advised civil servants to work hard and be loyal to the government as their dedication would ensure the success of the country. — Bernama
