MIRI, April 21 — The Sarawak United People's Party (SUPP) will launch the party's 'Clean and Just' slogan and its manifesto on Tuesday, as part of its campaign strategy for the 13th General Election (13GE).
Party president Datuk Seri Peter Chin said the launch was expected to be held at the party headquarters in Kuching. He said the word, 'Clean', in the slogan indicated that the party believed in doing what was morally right, as well as fighting corruption and upholding good corporate governance.
'Just' was a reflection of the party's promise to serve all races without fear or favour on social and economic issues, he told a news conference at the Miri SUPP office here today. Chin said SUPP candidates for the seven parliamentary seats which the party was contesting would promote both the slogan and manifesto to enable voters to understand their future was secured if they elected SUPP and Barisan Nasional back as their representatives on polling day.
He also announced that the party had sacked, with immediate effect, Edward Andrew Luwak, who was standing under the DAP ticket to contest the Serian parliamentary seat against incumbent Datuk Richard Riot Jaem. "To our knowledge, he (Luwak) has not tendered his resignation as SUPP member," he said. For the 13GE, SUPP will contest the parliamentary seats of Bandar Kuching, Stampin, Serian, Sarikei, Lanang, Sibu and Miri.
