TM’s UniFi hits 400,000 subscribers’ target ahead of schedule

July 22, 2012

KUALA LUMPUR, July 22 — Telekom Malaysia Berhad’s (TM) high-speed broadband service, UniFi, has exceeded its 400,000 subscribers mark five months before its end 2012 target and three months after securing 300,000 accounts, the dominant telecoms operator said today.

UniFi is available at 83 exchange areas covering more than 1.222 million premises and it aims to meet the targeted 1.3 million premises by December 2012.

“Our UniFi service continues to receive overwhelming response, beating the set target five months ahead of schedule. This latest development augurs well for TM and we expect this momentum to continue,” said Datuk Seri Zamzamzairani Mohd Isa, TM’s group chief executive officer.

“We are very pleased indeed that our flagship service has reached more than 400,000 customers nationwide. The coverage area for UniFi is steadily expanding with Terengganu being the most recent addition to the list early this month. This proves that we are the nation’s No. 1 broadband provider,” he added in a statement released by TM.

UniFi is Malaysia’s first and best value triple-play service comprising high speed internet, video (Internet Protocol Television or “IPTV”) and voice, with speeds from 5Mbps to up to 20Mbps via fibre technology (Fibre-to-the-Home or “FTTH”).
