Two Keadilan Daily journalists give police statements

PETALING JAYA, March 10 – Two Keadilan Daily journalists have given their statements to the police over Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) vice-president Tian Chua’s statement that the Lahad Datu intrusion was a drama staged by Umno to scare the people and intimidate them.

Keadilan Daily editor Fazallah Pit and journalist Aisha Geoffery were accompanied by a lawyer when they arrived at the Petaling Jaya Police Headquarters at about 2 pm.

Speaking to reporters, Fazallah said both of them gave their statements and evidence related to an interview with Tian Chua.

Fazallah said Tian Chua’s statement was misinterpreted by some bloggers which ignited public anger.

After countless protests and police reports again him, Tian Chua, who is member of Parliament for Batu, said that remarks published on March 1 by Keadilan Daily in which he claimed that the shooting was a conspiracy by Umno to divert public attention, had been taken out of context.

Yesterday, Deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said the police had opened investigation papers on the case in Johor under Section 500 of the Penal Code for defaming the government and had recorded over 140 statements. – Bernama
