KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 4 – University students must reach “political maturity”, that is having in-depth knowledge about poltical parties in Malaysia, said Gerakan Youth chief Lim Si Pin.
He said there should be a benchmark such as a minimum grade point just like entry to Student Representative Councils, which requires a minimum of 2.5 grade point before a student can contest in council elections.
“The government must also ensure that by allowing them to enter politics, it will not affect their studies.
“This is because if he fails in his studies thereafter, it will burden his parents,” he said.
He said this to reporters after chairing the 12th Gerakan Youth National Central Committee Meeting at Menara PGRM here today.
